Larry Chu was appointed as the public member commissioner in June 2023. Larry served four terms on the Larkspur City Council from 2003 to 2019, which included three 1-year terms as Mayor and four 1-year terms as Vice Mayor. In his time with the City, he was involved in the process of adding the Town of San Anselmo to the Twin Cities Police Authority to form the Central Marin Police Authority. He was one of the two Larkspur representatives in the formation of the Central Marin Fire Authority with the Town of Corte Madera. Larry is also a past president of the Marin County Council of Mayors and Councilmembers and served as the Chair of the MCCMC Joint Powers Authority Oversight Committee for six years.

 

Other current community service includes serving on the Citizens’ Oversight Committee for the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority and as the non-profit Board Treasurer for the Marin Council Boy Scouts of America, the Marin Healthy Youth Partnership, and the Pesso-Boyden System Psychomotor Institute.

 

Larry has worked in Financial Services in various roles for 40+ years and has been a resident of Marin over that period. He has two adult children and resides in Larkspur with his wife, Tasmin Pesso.
