The Board of Directors are comprised of one representative for each member agency. The Board member may be a member of the agency's City/Town Council or Board of Supervisors or the agency's staff. The agency is responsible for reducing and recycling resident's solid waste and safely disposing of hazardous materials.
History
Marin County Hazardous and Solid Waste is now known as Zero Waste Marin. Zero Waste Marin is a joint powers authority agreement between Belvedere, Larkspur, Mill Valley, Novato, San Rafael, Sausalito, San Anselmo, Corte Madera, Fairfax, Ross, Tiburon, and Marin County. ZWM was established in 1996 with the mission to help Marin County residents and businesses meet the county's zero waste goal by 2025. ZWM also provides information on household hazardous waste collections, recycling, composting, and waste disposal.
Marin County LAFCo is fully committed to providing accessible facilities, elements and
channels of communication to all members of the public. As part of this commitment, Marin County LAFCo
has a policy of providing an accessible website compatible with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and
commercial screen reading software. All features of the website are coded to allow individuals with vision and
other impairments to understand and use the website to the same degree as someone without disabilities. We welcome
feedback and can often resolve issues in a timely manner if they arise.
